Blogging Awards

As part of my current blog remodeling project, I've decided to feature only the very latest award on my blog (or newest awards from a single month if there are more than one), and house the others in this separate post. I saw something similar a while ago on Amanda's blog, The Zen Leaf, and it's time to follow suit. I never thought I'd say this, but I have so many awards now that I find this necessary. Please be assured that I appreciate each and every award I've received (unfortunately, I did not keep better track of a couple of duplicate awards and will not be able to mention the sources for them). These wonderful awards are playful reminders of the connections I've made in the book blogging world.

Here are my awards, from the earliest to the latest. Please feel free to download and distribute these to others. If you're interested, click on the links underneath awards for posts and "official rules" governing each; in some instances you'll need to scroll down a bit after clicking.

Miscellanous Musings

Last month, I was honored by two new awards from fellow book bloggers. Cathy from One eyed stuffed bunny and. . . gave me a B-I-N-G-O Award, while Mel from The Reading Life gave me a Lemonade Award. Thanks, Cathy and Mel! I'm honored by these awards and display them on my blog (at least for the time being--if I get many more, I may need to keep them in a separate post). I'm not distributing any awards today because I know far too many deserving blogs, but please feel free to "steal" these awards and give them out if you desire.

Today I found out that I won a copy of The Blue Star from Laura's Reviews. Many thanks to Laura and the Hatchette Book Group--I can't wait to read this book!

Until late August, I'd resisted joining any organized reading challenges. I noticed that several bloggers, including Amanda from The Zen Leaf, Mel from The Reading Life, and Mee from Books of Mee, seemed to do a lot of challenges. To make up for lost time, I joined four reading challenges: Rebecca's Spice of Life, Belleza's third Japanese Literature Challenge, Carl V.'s R.I.P. IV, and Jennie's China Challenge. These challenges are not overly ambitious for me. I've already completed the Spice of Life challenge at the level of A Taste.

My friend, Laura, just started a blog about the process of writing a screenplay, called aptly, Screenplay 101. Please stop by her blog to welcome her when you have a moment!

Update, 5:00 PM: Laura from Laura's Reviews just gave me three more awards, which now adorn my blog: a Super Comments Award, a Superior Scribbler Award, and a Zombie Chicken Award.

Wow! I am triply honored! Amanda from The Zen Leaf commented that the Zombie Chicken Award is too cool to not give to others. Nor do I wish to risk the wrath of zombie chickens by not not sharing this grand award, officially described below:
"The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken-- excellence, grace, and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all."
I hereby bestow this prestigious award upon the following blogs:

Congratulations to each of you!

The Envelope, please

Just when I thought life was pretty darn good, it got even better! Within the past month, I've received three awards from other bloggers. From Laura of Laura's Reviews I got a second Lovely Blog Award, from LuAnn of Reading Frenzy I received a Humane Award, and Cathy of One eyed stuffed bunny and. . . gave me a Kreativ Blogger Award. Thank you all very much. You have wonderful, unique blogs, and were gracious to give me these awards. I am honored to display them on my blog.

For the Kreativ Award, I'm supposed to list seven of my favourite things. (I'm using this spelling of favourite because it makes me sound more sophisticated--please read this post with a lovely English accent.) Only seven things? That's really hard for me to do. How can I limit myself to seven? But I'll be a sport and give it a try.

These are (a few of) my favourite things:

1) Family and friends
2) Food, glorious food
3) Reading and writing
4) Nature (includes animals, flowers and trees, the ocean, sunsets, mountains, storms)
5) Exhilarating surprises (that's on everyone's list, right?)
6) Peace of mind
7) Everything else I love

Okay, so I didn't exactly limit myself to seven things, and some of the things aren't even things.
This is all in fun, anyway. Thanks again to Laura, LuAnn, and Cathy, for your kindness, support, and awards.

Honest Scrap Awards

I've just received this award from Kim Smith from Writing Space, my very first blogging award. Thanks, Kim! I appreciate the gesture. Even though we've met online recently, Kim's quickly becoming a blogging friend.

Here are the guidelines I received from Kim:
1. List 10 honest things about yourself (have some fun with this!).
2. Pass the award on to 7 bloggers (I was told that you can give out fewer if you'd like; I'm only giving out four.)

Ten Truths About Me:
TRUE CONFESSIONS
1. Lately I have to force myself to go to holiday parties, but usually end up enjoying them.
2. I love snow (so does Kim!), and find it very romantic.
3. I wanted to be a lion tamer when I was a kid. Ahem.
4. I'm a tea-aholic. Tea helps me to wake up, energizes me, and later provides calm; tea is "my drink".
5. I sweat the small stuff too much of the time.
6. I really do like to get compliments. :)
7. I'm a neat freak (not as bad as Felix Unger but I don't appreciate junk all over the place).
8. In spite of my attempts to proofread, I still discover embarrassing typos after I've published or emaiiled something. (See?)
9. I'm ambitious. This may come as a surprise to many, who consider me to be relaxed and easygoing.
10. I'm a bit shy, but can act confident.

I'd like to pass this award on to the following bloggers I admire; they're honest and speak their minds in a thoughtful manner. Without further ado, here's my list of award-winners:

To Christie for Losing the Low Carb Way
To Heidi for Single Parenting
To Mee for Books of Mee
To Myrthe for The Armenian Odar Reads

Congratulations to all of you. I enjoy reading your blogs, and hope you'll participate.

Some of the books featured here were given to me free of charge by authors, publishers, and agents. As an Amazon Associate/Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Thank you for any orders you may place through my book blog!
