Really Random Tuesday #63: Book Winner, Blogiversary, and a New Giveaway

Am I having déjà vu? Please help me to congratulate petite! Petite is the lucky winner of Last Train to Omaha by Ann Whitely-Gillen.  Congratulations, petite!  Last month, I featured a guest post about writing by Ann Whitely-Gillen, and I hope to read her novel within the next few months. (Petite won a different book here a few months ago.)

Many other giveaways are listed on the right side of my blog, so please take a look before you "click away" from here.  Additionally, I have a wonderful new giveaway at the end of this post, to show my appreciation for my readers, and to help celebrate my blogiversary.

5 years!  Can you believe it?  I started this book blog in May of 2008.  Time flies when you're blogging about books!

On International Women's Day, March 8, I posted my review of No Ocean Here, a new collection of poems by Sweta Srivastava Vikram, part of the World Voices series.  Recently, No Ocean Here ranked #6 for Asian-American poetry for Kindle sales.  One of the poems in this powerful book, Auto Immune Deficiency Syndrome, is featured in an AIDS awareness film, The Dawn.  And India-based Bell Bajao, a cultural and media campaign that calls on men and boys to take a stand against domestic violence, published the same poem as part of Violence Against Women Awareness Month.  Award-winning writer Sweta Srivastava Vikram and Modern History Press are generously offering an international giveaway for two copies of No Ocean Here (US/Canada/UK: print copy or ebook; other countries: ebook).

  • To enter this giveaway, simply leave a comment.
  • For another chance at winning, become a follower of this blog, or let me know that you're already a follower.
  • For an additional chance, post about this giveaway on your blog, Facebook, Pinterest, or Twitter.

Enter by 5 PM PDT on Monday, May 27.  One winner will be selected randomly and announced on Tuesday, May 28.  Good luck!

BLOGIVERSARY
4 years of blogging about books

How do you celebrate a blogiversary?  By blogging about it, of course! It's hard to believe that I started this blog four years ago, but the time has passed quickly.  One of the reasons I host giveaways is to thank those who visit my blog (and my followers get extra chances to win).  Without readers who leave comments, this blog would be a dull monologue. Thank you for your visits and comments!

Really Random Tuesday #25: Short and Sweet

Is it possible?

This week marks my three-year blogiversary.  In May of 2008, I started Suko's Notebook.  During my first year of blogging, I got little traffic and few comments (blogging is not for the thin-skinned), but I didn't give up. No one knew about my blog, except for a few family members and friends, but I kept on reading and posting.  I had a lot to learn--and still do.  Gradually, I "met" book bloggers from all over the world.  Eventually, I started to hear from authors, agents, and publishers, and had the opportunity to review books and interview authors.

My book blog is constantly changing and evolving, and I hope that it will continue to grow and improve and be a site that's worth visiting. I appreciate all of my readers, and thank you for reading!

I often mention giveaway winners in my Really Random Tuesday posts. In fact, that's one of the reasons I created this meme, in order to have a "place" to announce them. The winner of the $25 Amazon gift card is Carrie from In the Hammock Book Reviews. Congratulations, Carrie!

If you didn't win this time, don't be too upset, because I have many other giveaways listed on the right side of my blog. Click on the covers of the books that interest you for details and to enter the giveaways.

365 Days

365 days. More or less. Today's my 1-year blogiversary. It's been a very interesting experience, leading me into directions I'd never have imagined. Along the way, I've read numerous books, interacted with authors, made new friends, won a few awards and prizes, learned some technical stuff, and drank more than my share of pomegranate juice. When I first started blogging, I truly did not know where I'd go with it or what would evolve--but that very uncertainty seems to be an exciting, integral part of this ever-changing experience. Suko's Notebook is definitely a work-in-progress. I know that term is quite overused but a blog is the epitome of a work-in-progress. Hopefully, I've come a long way (baby) from my enthusiastic first post, Greetings.

Thank you for being a part of my first year of blogging!

Some of the books featured here were given to me free of charge by authors, publishers, and agents. As an Amazon Associate/Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Thank you for any orders you may place through my book blog!
