Really Random Tuesday #94: Spring Garden Notes, and a Book Winner

"No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow."
~ Proverbs

I know that winter was pretty harsh for many of you.  At last, the lovely season of spring is here!

"I love spring anywhere, but if I could choose I would always greet it in a garden."
~ Ruth Stout
Outdoor Orchids

Many herbs grow in my garden, in pots as well as in the ground, including:

Mexican Sage

Lavender

Thai Basil

Rosemary

"There's rosemary, that's for remembrance."
~ Hamlet, William Shakespeare

Pleased as punch: a few cherry tomato plants that I'd forgotten about (because I planted them in a new, out-of-view spot) thrived on my neglect!

Cherry Tomatoes

What's  growing in your spring garden?

Congratulations to Julianne from Outlandish Lit!   She has won The Tusk that Did the Damage by Tania James.  Julianne, I hope that you'll enjoy reading this book, which features an unusual narrator (one of three), an elephant called the Gravedigger, as mentioned in my review.

I am so glad that Spring is finally here.

  10. As you can probably guess nothing is growing in my garden yet. lol. but yours is amazing. Your rosemary is huge. I love putting potatoes and rosemary in foil packs and roasting them. Yum. The orchids are beautiful as well. It makes me wish I was at your house...it's freezing here.

  11. I am no good at growing anything in the garden, but I am good at appreciating a good one! I especially love rosemary, the scent is so fabulous, and I cook with it quite often. Yours looks spectacular.

  12. Beautiful garden pictures! I generally kill all plant life I touch, but I'd love to learn to garden one day.

  13. Congrats to the winner and happy reading :)

What a beautiful garden Susan! I didn't know rosemary was for remembrance, I will have to plant some in my own garden then. I neglected my garden last year, but have sworn to tend to it this time around.
Like you, I have planted tomato plants, which do pretty well. Also, zuchinni.
This year I want to make sure to get the mammoth sunflower seeds potted in May. Once fully grown, they are so pretty. (if I can get them to survive the rabbits and squirrels that love to just chomp the tops off when they are still small lol) I also like to plant Marigolds.

    Enjoy your weekend!

  14. Having funny old weather here in the NE of England. One day it seems like Spring has sprung and the next we are back to winter.

Mint has to be one of my favourite garden smells, I love how it releases its wonderfully clean fragrance as I walk past it.

  15. Congrats to the winner. I love looking at the plants...I just got some Thai Basil at the Maryland Day festival. Not sure what I'll be using it for, but the agriculture people said it can be used to make tea.

  19. I am hesitant of growing Orchids for their not as simple to grow like other plants. I have two French Lavender growing in my front yard.
