Really Random Tuesday: City Lights

This was definitely a highlight of the trip.

Founded in 1953 by poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Peter D. Martin, City Lights is a fantastic independent bookstore and publisher in San Francisco.  On a recent trip to the city, I was thrilled to visit this world-famous literary landmark, and enjoyed capturing some of the enchanting, bohemian ambiance of the place "on film".

  4. Oh, I would *love* to visit there. (San Francisco and the bookstore!) My favorite indie bookstore is called Prairie Lights in Iowa City. =)

  5. I like a lot American bookshops. There, you can read, choose, drink a coffee. Always a wonderful experience !

  7. I love independent bookstores and hope that they can keep up and stay in business. I have never been to City lights but it looks to be a great place to visit.

  10. I love looking at what bookstores in other places look like. Unfortunately here we have barely no independent stores, only the box chains and I think it's sad that its that way. I would love to browse this one as it looks fantastic.

  11. There are a few independent bookstores in Hyde Park, Chicago that I lovedto visit. I miss browsing in that used bookstore I remember on 57th Street. Your pictures remind me of it.

  14. What a lovely bookstore! I especially loved the section just dedicated to poetry...I have never seen a section like that in the bookstores around here :)

  17. I would be so excited to be there I might not have ever left. There is nothing more magical than getting to hang out in a little bohemian book store. It is like you stepped into another world all on its own.
