This week's question is from Vicki from The Wolf's Den: What are your feelings on losing followers? Have you ever stopped following a blog?
Excellent question! I do lose followers from time to time, and I feel a bit sad when this happens, but I try not to dwell on it. People are busy and pressed for time, and I realize that my blog is not for everyone. I appreciate the followers and readers that I do have. As for me, it's very rare that I "unfollow" a blog; I think I may have a couple of times in the past, before I realized that someone else's feelings could be hurt. But usually, if I follow your blog you are stuck with me for life. :) I follow many blogs and only wish that I had more time to visit and leave comments on each and every one of them.
I try not to look at my stats too often - they only upset me!
ReplyDeleteKathy, me, too. Although it can be difficult to resist one more peek. . . .
ReplyDeletewhen ever some stops following me I admit I wonder why-I know it probably is that their reading tastes and mine do not overlap so I try not to take it personally-I very rarely will stop following a blog-unless someone seems mean or hateful I will continue to follow them
ReplyDeleteMel, sometimes I think it may be because they are "downsizing", that they "unfollow" many blogs at once during this effort. I would "unfollow" a mean or hateful blogger as well.
ReplyDeleteHave fun hopping!
I hate to stop following a blog -- I try to commit and leave valuable comments on the work that bloggers do. Everyone focuses and does such a great job, and their blog is like another job (more fun, though), so I want to value it all. I will give someone months before I stop following a blog -- you never know when you may miss out! Here's my Hop: Coffee and a Book Chick -- Blog Hop...
ReplyDeleteI don't get to concerned about the followers, I follow whoever I choose, and I someone chooses to follow my blog I am pleased. However, I try to follow only blogs that I truly and going to follow. If I am in the Fantastic Followers, it is because I plan on coming back to visit often, otherwise, why would I say I am a follower, if I never visit. Did all of that make sense. I don't even know if I am in your Fantastic Followers, I'll go check now... ; )
ReplyDeleteYes I am a follower... and after reading my comment above, I made so many mistakes, I think I need to go back to bed. hehe
ReplyDeleteWell put Suko - these are my thought exactly nd are the reasons why I won't follow a blog jut to enter a competiion/giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI try to remember that there are many days when I just don't have the time to read and comment on all the blogs that I follow, so others must feel the same. And that results in less comments and sometimes, less followers. But I try not to un-follow blogs because I want people to know that I still appreciate the work they put into their blog, even if I don't comment.
ReplyDeleteI am also one who tries not to look at my stats too often, as it can make me feel hopeless when I lose followers, and like you, I am not one to unsubscribe lightly. I don't always have time to leave deep comments on all the sites I visit, but I am visiting!
ReplyDeleteI'm always a little bummed when I lose followers but make every effort to
ReplyDeleteturn every lost follower into a learning experience so I can improve my
performance.
On the flip side, I only stop following people when they give me a reason to
such as being totally off message or being too controversial in an negative,
over-the-top way.
Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

It's always a bummer to lose followers. I feel the same as you unless a blogger decides to post some objectionable content I don't stop following them. On the other hand if someone follows me I don't necessarily follow their blog. They might be interested in following my blog b/c they like books but I might not like what they blog about say fishing or something like that. :-)
ReplyDeleteXOXO~ Renee
What an interesting discussion! I appreciate all the comments and welcome more. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Suko :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for following, I'm following you back.
I think we all have lost and gained followers --often within the same week. About 2x a year I try to check if those on my reader are still blogging, and if they have not posted in several months, I may remove from my reader.
ReplyDeleteI think you do an amazing job of commenting on blogs, Suko. Far, far better than I, and I know every recipient is greatly appreciative of the time it takes you to leave a thoughtful comment.
ReplyDeleteHafsah, thanks for stopping by from the Hop! Your blog was brand new to me today, but I hope to visit again.
ReplyDeleteDiane, LOL! You lose some, you gain some. Followers, that is.
Bellezza, you are too kind--thank you!
I wish I had an infinite amount of time to blog - I would a happy camper! Thanks for hopping by Fiction Folio!
ReplyDeleteHi Suko :O)
ReplyDeleteFunny enough, I dont watch who is following me that much and I tend not to follow too many blogs. Only because my blogger profile link is broken, so if I want to follow someone, I have to manually go in and add them. It's a mini process, and I usually forget to do it.
Otherwise I'm sure I'd be following hundreds of blogs. Enjoy your weekend!

Tara, I enjoyed visiting your blog!
ReplyDeleteNaida, I resisted adding a "Followers Gadget" to my blog for a long time. I do follow a lot of blogs, and only wish that I had enough time to visit them all on a regular basis. Thanks for stopping by! :)
When I was using Blogger, I was always sad, that I had so less followers and then readers, but now I really don't bother much. I am happy that some of the book bloggers like you do drop in and leave your valued comments. I did rather be with 10 people who appreciate my blog than with 100 who never even visit my blog :)
ReplyDeleteI am really happy with the people I follow, I am stalker for life too, if I like a blog :)
Hello...stopping by to say hello.
